About Angelina

British mezzo-soprano Angelina Dorlin-Barlow is currently studying at the Royal College of Music as a Fishmongers’ Company Scholar under the tutelage of Patricia Bardon. She is a Samling Artist, a London Transport Museum Artist, and is also supported by the Josephine Baker Trust.

In 2020, Angelina was selected as a featured Bitesize Proms Young Artist and won the Norma Procter Song Prize in the Junior Kathleen Ferrier Competition. At the RCM, she was awarded Best Undergraduate Vocal Performance in the Brooks Van Der Pump English Song Competition (2021) and the Poppy Holden Prize for Vocal (2023).

Angelina has appeared as a solo recitalist at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall Music Room and has performed as a soloist in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall. In 2022, she performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as Astra Desmond in Vaughan Williams’ A Serenade to Music at the Royal Festival Hall, Saffron Hall, and on BBC Radio 3. Angelina was featured in the first season and Christmas Special of Channel 4’s The Piano. 

In 2023, Angelina performed with British Youth Opera and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, taking on the roles of Third Shining One, Cup-bearer, Pickthank, and Woodcutter’s Boy in Vaughan Williams’ The Pilgrim’s Progress. She was named a Cecil King Scholar at the Oxford International Song Festival, where she premiered her own composition, Prison, under the pseudonym Lorainne Glorinda Lawb.

Angelina covered the role of the Jewish Child in the 2023 world premiere of Noah Max’s chamber opera A Child in Striped Pyjamas in London and again at the 2024 Brundibár Festival. With The Mozartists, she performed as the Bridesmaid in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at Cadogan Hall and at Teatro Massimo Comunale in Syracuse, Italy. In 2024, Angelina was honoured to create the role of Mia in the world premiere of Link in My Bio by Charlotte Marlow and Dirty Freud at the Théâtres de la Ville Luxembourg. 

Angelina has performed in masterclasses with esteemed artists including Gerald Finley OC CBE, Neal Davies, Michael Chance CBE, Nicky Spence OBE, Jennifer Johnston, and Roderick Williams OBE. 

Angelina performs regularly on the concert platform with recent highlights including Mendelssohn’s Elijah under Jonathan Willcocks at G Live and Chichester Cathedral, Bach’s St John Passion with the Monteverdi String Band at Romsey Abbey, Handel’s Messiah under Adrian Partington at Gloucester Cathedral, Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at the West Road Concert Hall, and Bach’s St Matthew Passion with the Liverpool Bach Collective.

In the upcoming 2025 season, Angelina is delighted to join the Glyndebourne Chorus, performing in productions of Wagner’s Parsifal, Handel’s Saul, Verdi’s Falstaff, and Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
